At a global level, the Media and Communications Unit (MCU) provides strategic advice and support on media and communications issues to IOM Headquarters, and regional and country offices worldwide.
The media team responds to press inquiries to HQ, briefs Geneva-based international media during twice-weekly press conferences at the UN Palais des Nations in Geneva, and represents IOM to the United Nations Information Service in Geneva and the UN’s Department of Global Communications in New York.
It manages all news releases and feature content disseminated on the Organization’s global digital platforms including the trilingual website administered by MCU’s Online Communications Unit in Manila, and its global social media accounts. Its Manila team provides editorial/harmonization guidance and technical support to IOM’s network of regional and country-office websites, IOM-branded external websites and select project websites, and manages the Organization’s publicly accessible audio-visual media library.
